SPEECH COACH MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
Are you a new or inexperienced Speech coach?
CTAM (Communication and Theater Association of Minnesota), in conjunction with the MSCA (Minnesota Speech Coaches Association), would like to offer you the opportunity to be mentored by an experienced Speech coach!
Here's how the program works: Coaches interested in receiving a mentor should contact me, Mentoring Coordinator Jody Saxton West, at [email protected]. In the email, please indicate your name, affiliated school, section (if you know it), and any other information about your Speech and coaching experience that might help me in matching you with the ideal mentor. I will
then locate a mentor for you. I will introduce you to your mentor via email, as well as provide a list of potential topics about which you may have questions (such as where do I find pieces? How do I recruit judges? How do invitationals differ from Section
tournaments?). The mentoring relationship may be as simple as email exchanges as the season gets rolling, having the mentoring coach invite their mentee into the Tab Room at an invitational, or meeting for dinner and a discussion on category rules.
Should you have any questions about Speech in Minnesota, but are not sure if a mentor is what you need, please don’t hesitate to send me an email with your questions or concerns; I am happy to help!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Speech Coaching!
